Krill oil is extracted from Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba). These tiny shrimp-like crustaceans exist in large swarms and are commonly found in the Southern Ocean.

Krill oil contains high quality omega-3 fatty acids. These omega-3 fatty acids are to a large extent bound to phospholipids, which makes them particularly well usable for the human body. Krill oil owes its natural red colour to the astaxanthin, which belongs to a group of carotenoids.

Each capsule contains 500 mg of pure krill oil with 100 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, of which are 70 mg EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and 30 mg of DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). It is evident, that a daily intake of at least 250 mg EPA and DHA contribute to a healthy normal heart function.

Krill oil is not just krill oil. Neptune Krill Oil NKO® (original krill oil from AKER BioMarine), obtained by a patented special cold extraction process, was the first to be officially authorised by the European Union as a food ingredient or for the manufacture of food supplements. NKO® differs considerably in its composition from other krill oils. All clinical efficacy studies are based on Neptune Krill Oil NKO®.

Ingredients: Lipid Extract from the crustacean Antarctic Krill Euphausia superba (krill oil 53 %), Gelatin, Soybean Oil, humectant Glycerol.

No Nutrient reference value for the daily intake according to VO (EU) No. 1169/2011 has yet been established. 

Recommended dose: In support of a normal heart function, swallow 3 capsules or 4 capsules per day in support of the liver function and in support of the homocysteine and fat metabolism unchewed at mealtimes with sufficient fluid.

Not suitable for people with a shellfish allergy.

Krill oil thins the blood slightly. People who are taking blood thinning medication (anticoagulants) should consult a doctor before the consumption. Pregnant and breast-feeding women should only take 450 mg DHA and EPA per day.
