Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) helps regulate hormone activity. It also has an influence on the normal functioning of the nervous system and mental function. Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is important for maintaining healthy nerve cells. Together with folic acid, it contributes to the formation of red blood cells. Especially in a vegan diet, the vitamin should be taken in through dietary supplements, because it is usually only found in animal products. Together with vitamins B6 and B12, folic acid helps to keep the homocysteine metabolism normal. If this level were to rise too high, then it can interfere with nerve messengers.
Iron: During the transition to menopause, menstrual bleeding may be heavier or intermenstrual bleeding may occur. This is quite normal, but the mineral iron is lost in the process. Deficiencies should be avoided because iron contributes to a normal immune system function and helps to supply the body with oxygen. Magnesium: Our nerves and muscles need the mineral.
